The Android tablet market isn’t as crowded as the smartphone market, but it’s not without its stars. Samsung has long dominated this market, offering a wide range of devices to meet a wide range of needs. It established the very capable (and very large) Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra last year.

hoping to provide a solution for users seeking laptop-class productivity. The South Korean company appears to be getting ready to release the successor to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra sooner rather than later, and a new leak suggests it may include some significant performance and durability improvements.

Samsung’s forthcoming premium tablet will have a custom chipset, possibly additional RAM, and IP68 waterproofing. As previously stated, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra should be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor found in this year’s Galaxy S23 series.

While the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra had 16GB of RAM, it was the most costly and highest-end model available. According to this source, 16GB of RAM could be the new starting point for the current generation. We haven’t heard something specific about Samsung including more models with increased RAM, according to Ice Universe.

Perhaps the most exciting upgrade is the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra receiving an IP68 rating for resistance to water and dust, which earlier models did not have. Apple’s iPad Pro, on the other hand, already has an IP68 rating.

Not everything will probably change. Samsung’s new tablet is expected to retain several identical specs to its predecessor, including screen and dimensions, display resolution, and battery. But it is possible that it will be 11 grams heavier than the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

While this rumor focuses on equipment, any new software changes are currently unknown. The tablet is expected to be unveiled later this year at a summertime Unpacked event.
