The final big update for Marvel’s Avengers Game is now live, unlocking hundreds of skins for free.
- Marvel’s Avengers Game reached one of its final major milestones today, as it received its final major update, which Crystal Dynamics announced in January. This patch adds many free cosmetics to each character while also tweaking some of the game’s systems.

While Crystal Dynamics previously stated that all cosmetics would be provided for free, it has recently backed down slightly with a more honest description. “Almost” all cosmetics have been unlocked, with the exception of items which players have always had to unlock through the advertisement.
New Marvel Avengers Game Features for only available to players who have completed at least one achievement or trophy.

Even so, almost every character has dozens of costumes to try on, some of which are brand new, such as Thor’s prehistoric Odin outfit and Black Widow’s 2012 Avengers suit. Iron Man’s War Machine armor is also among the new skins, but it is only available to players who have completed at least one achievement or trophy.

Credits have really been transformed to other assets, as explained previously by Crystal Dynamics. The image above should assist players in understanding the exchange rates. Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Concentrators have been removed from the game, but players are going to get access to a permanent 1.5 multiplayer mode based on fragments and experience.
The game will also be removed from digital shopfronts on September 30, and servers will remain operational for the foreseeable future, allowing players to play solo or in co-op. Some minor fixes may be implemented until then (such as the April 4 hotfix),so bugs that appear after that date may go unfixed because the studio will assumedly be focusing solely on the next Tomb Raider game.
The remainder of the patch involves additional balance adjustments and bug fixes. The following are the complete Marvel’s Avengers 2.8 patch notes:
New Features in marvel’s avengers game
The Marketplace is now open! What exactly does this mean?
- Almost all MCU and non-MCU Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, and Nameplates are now available on your Hero Card.
- Items earned through the campaign or bought through the Cosmetic Vendor, on the other hand, must be earned or purchased as they have always been.
- The Shipments system, as well as Hero Challenge Cards, have been entirely eliminated from the game. Items previously earned through Shipments and Hero Challenge Cards are now among the hundreds of Open market items that are granted automatically when you update to v2.8.
- After updating to v2.8, you no longer need to be linked to the web to connect all of the unboxed Marketplace content.
- We’re granting a special Founder’s Gift – Iron Man’s ‘Variable Threat Response Battle Suit’ – as a thank you to players who’ve been with us on the journey. This Outfit will be given to any player who has achieved a minimum of one Awards before April 1.
- Credits accounts have been transformed to in-game resources. The chart below deconstructs that conversion. Please contact our Support team at http://support.crystald.com/ if you have any questions about your balance conversion.
- Owned Hero’s Catalysts and Remnant Extractors have been removed from the game entirely. In their place, a permanent 1.5x multiplier on Shards and XP is now in effect.
- The Reassemble Campaign and the Avengers Initiative
- It’s a friendly fire! When Kate Bishop’s Decoy is used during certain boss encounters, AI Friends will no longer target it.
- We fixed an exploit in which the Winter Soldier could use the massive intrinsic attack ‘Blast Zone’ as a heavy sidestep attack if the skill ‘Vengeful Ghost’ was not purchased.
- Banter among Jane and Bucky, which was not activating for some players, now does.
Equipment and Rewards
- Mission Reward at the End (Both OLTs and Raid)
- Superior gear is now available from all completions, not just the once a week rotation.
- Family Gathering and both Discordant Sound raids now give up to PL 165 equipment.
- Events and the Cloning Lab now offer access to PL 175 gear.
- PL 165 to PL 175 Gear Upgrade
- The resources needed to move a piece of equipment from the old PL cap to the new PL cap have been lowered.
- Within this range, upgrade module costs are now capped at $150.
- 50 iconic items have been returned.
- Cloning Lab gear’s Gear Nanite charges now deal status harm via heavy melee threats. The accumulation of status has been increased.
- Cooldowns for significant artifact active effects have been reduced.
The User Interface

- The skill icons for the Winter Soldier are now properly displayed inside the Hero Terminal.
- JARVIS has returned to the internet! When defeating enemies, the Cloning Lab gear reward costs did not always appear on the HUD, but they now do.
- oop-sum, Lorem! The correct summary has been added to the placeholder text in Captain America’s ‘Vanguard Charge’ skill.
- We moved Hawkeye’s Heroic Task Chain reward icon to its proper location.
Art and Animation
- Hulk’s right shoulder no longer tears during games when he wears his “Wasteland Warrior” outfit.
- During gameplay, the Winter Soldier’s gun no longer clips through his armor.
- When performing knockouts on dreadbots during multiplayer sessions, the Winter Soldier’s muzzle flash VFX now display correctly.
- There is a bug in the multiverse! When activating her Best of the best while wearing her MCU-inspired outfit, the Mighty Thor now uses the correct Mjolnir.
- Cap’s shield can do a lot of things, but it can’t make him invisible! We fixed a bug in which Captain America’s shield would briefly disappear when using the ‘Looking Sharp’ emote.
- During several interactions on the Helicarrier, the Winter Soldier’s rifle would appear stuck in his hand (including the interaction with Mjolnir).
- Similarly, when performing various emotes, the Winter Soldier’s rifle no longer attaches to random props.
- We modified The Mighty Thor’s ‘Unhelmed’ Outfit mesh to demonstrate the right hair color.
- When using the ‘Passing the Mantle’ emote, Bucky’s legs no longer distort or get clipped by Cap’s shield.
- When Captain America activates his following improvements while vaulting, his shield now properly reseats on his arm.
Known Problems
From 12 p.m. UTC to 5 p.m. local time, Faction Terminal Missions and Coursework will be unavailable. This will be addressed in a forthcoming hotfix, Update 2.8.1, that’s scheduled to be released on April 4.
